Abstract

The continuing training is equivalent to extending the school system throughout life, according to personal interest and society's demand. The focus on teaching in the early years is since basic education is the beginning of instigating logical, creative, and critical thinking, building a pillar for professional training. It should be noted that continuing education plays a crucial role in improving the career of educators, shaping them as practical and reflective professionals capable of analyzing, understanding, and reflecting on teaching practice and the social context, while contributing to improve education in schools. This article has the general objective of understanding how the continued training of literacy teachers in the initial years, in the Aprender Sem Parar dos Anos Iniciais (Learning Without Stopping of the Initial Years) training course offered by the Subsecretaria de Formação dos Profissionais da Educação (Sub secretariat of Training for Education Professionals / EAPE), contributed to teacher training in the period from 2019 to 2021. The present study was developed based on a semi-structured interview on the topic. It is essential to value, support and encourage the participation of teachers in continuing education programs, confirming their importance as agents of transformation and construction of a society more prepared for the future. Furthermore, research is fundamental for the ongoing training of educators, allowing them to delve deeper into specific details, expanding their worldview and preparing them for challenges.
