Abstract

This article presents a research that analyzes the use of the Math Games app in teaching multiplication and division operations to students with special needs in the context of Specialized Educational Assistance (SEA). Its objective is to investigate how the use of the Math Games app can contribute to the learning of mathematics, with a focus on multiplication and division operations, and to the motivation of students with special needs in the context of SEA.The descriptive qualitative research was conducted with seven students enrolled between the 6th and 9th year of Elementary School in a school of Brasília, who attend SEA and have care plans focused on the development of mathematical skills. Diary entries, participant observation, informal interviews, and conversation circles were used for data collection. Data analysis was performed using Bardin's content analysis technique (1977). The results indicate that the use of the Math Games app is an effective strategy to assist in the learning process of multiplication and division operations for students with special needs in the context of SEA. The app increased the motivation and engagement of students, as well as facilitating learning through individualized activities adapted to the needs of each student. The research contributes to the development of pedagogical strategies focused on the needs of students with special needs and to the improvement of the Math Games app as a teaching tool for mathematics for these students.
