Childhood Education and the use of digital technologies: concepts and importance

This article discusses the use of digital technologies in Early Childhood Education. The theme is justified due to the importance of the use of digital technologies by children in kindergarten with didactic and educational objectives. Thus, it aims to answer the following research problem: “What is the importance of using digital technologies in Early Childhood Education?”, with the general objective of understanding the importance of using digital technologies in Early Childhood Education. To this end, the specific objectives were structured as follows: to discuss the concepts of digital technology and its relationship with Early Childhood Education; consider the importance of using digital technologies and playfulness with children in kindergarten; and, reflect on the need for initial and continued training of Early Childhood Education teachers, focused on new technologies. As for the methodological procedures, it is a bibliographical research and has a qualitative, descriptive and analytical approach. Authors such as Castells (1999); Vygotsky (1991), among others.
