Abstract

This article aims to resume the agenda of the racial issue in childhood discussed by Eliane Cavalleiro (2000). In these two decades, we have observed many advances still to be made, among them that of establishing an education in schools that is in fact anti-racist. Therefore, in this study, we sought to bring together three interdependent horizons of knowledge: first, sociological concepts of childhood as a social category to discuss the ways in which the representativeness processes of the childhood self are permeated by a dominant culture; in the second horizon we talk about the maintenance of colonialist education in Brazil, so that we can understand the structure through which Eurocentric education is a continuous practice of institutional racism until today; and in the third horizon of knowledge, we make some pedagogical inquiries in order to provoke diagnostic reflections on the true status of school education – and also promoting a restorative action of human dignity through anti-racist education based on essential topics. Keywords: racism; childhood; anti-racist education; socialization.
