The project entitled The use of solar energy: how to improve the use of a renewable energy source in Brasilia, developed for the Science Circuit of the 2023 school year, emerged from one of the cross-cutting themes of the Federal District's Curriculum on the Move, Education for Sustainability, and was aimed at students who attended the Resource Room after school at a public elementary school in the final years. The research project had many objectives, the main ones being: to provide the development of research in students with special educational needs; to promote awareness of the use of solar energy in the school environment; and to promote the protagonism and orality of students with special educational needs. The main stages of the project were: research on the topic and definition of the work to be developed by the students; research in the school environment on the topic of Solar Energy, awareness of the use of solar energy as a source of renewable and sustainable energy in the school environment; tabulation of the research data; development of a robot with the Lego Mindstorms kit; and construction of a model to explain the project. It was observed that the project provided a journey of knowledge, stimulating not only learning in the area of Science, but mainly the integral development of students.
