Marielle Franco's legacy in the classroom

This experience report highlights the importance of discussing the life and work of Marielle Franco in the classroom. A councilwoman from the state of Rio de Janeiro who was brutally murdered, she was fighting for equal rights, against the peripheral violence that kills young black people every day and against corruption, especially state corruption. In this sense, studying Marielle's struggle provides an opportunity to debate and understand human rights, citizenship and ethics. The locus of the work was the Meninos e Meninas do Parque School (EMMP), which serves the socially vulnerable. To this end, dynamics were carried out, including reading circles, exercises and the production of texts and poetry for a panel.
