Abstract

This experience describes an experience with colors that can be extrac-ted from elements of nature. The objective is to lead children to the discovery of the processes involved in the extraction of colors from elements of nature, as well as the production of natural paints, and also, to stimulate creativity and artistic expression through drawing and painting with the colors produced. To this end, conversation circles were held, in which subjects related to the theme were discussed; walks were carried out around the institution to observe the colors in nature; collection of elements from nature during the walk; production of paints with collected natural elements; pain-ts and drawings with the inks produced. Each step was followed by a conversation circle to discuss and consolidate the findings. The bibliographic review pointed to some legal documents that guide early childhood education and that discuss the importance of research projects in early childhood education, as well as the importance of the teacher as a mediator of the learning processes. As a methodological procedure, observation, conversation circles and photographic records were used. The results pointed to a greater engagement of children when experiencing a process with a beginning, mi-ddle and end. They also pointed to more significant learning by placing the child as a protagonist and collaborator in the construction of knowledge.
