Teachers' understandings about the importance of digital technology in the schooling process of people with visual disabilities

This article is part of a research project involving on the learning of technology use by adults and elderly people with visual impairment. The objective of the study was to investigate, among teachers, the potential and challenges of education and teaching of technologies, involving intergenerationality, in a public school in the Federal District aimed at people with visual impairment. A qualitative approach with field research and the semi-structured interview technique were used. Five teachers were investigated, one of whom was a teacher manager. The importance of interaction between generations and of ongoing training of teachers for learning how to use technology by adults and elderly people with visual impairment was observed. However, in view of the data obtained, the emerging demand for ongoing training of teachers for the education of adults and elderly people with visual impairment is projected, a training that only acquires its meaning with a focus on a humanistic and integral perspective, for both teacher and student.
