Portraits of everyday life in Early Childhood Education: the leading role of Down syndrome children in teaching practices

This dossier was developed as a technical product of the dissertation entitled: “Practices that include: the place of children with Down Syndrome in the everyday life of Early Childhood Education in the Federal District (2022-2023)”.. It aims to present the leading role of Down children in teaching practices, in two Early Childhood Education Centers, linked to the State Department of Education of the Federal District - SEEDF. The research subjects were two teachers, from two classes, and 30 children, two of whom had Down syndrome. Employing a qualitative approach, using free observation and photographs of teaching practices, the theoretical framework was grounded in the literature review, considering the education for all paradigm, the Sociology of Childhood, and the Pedagogy of Difference. The results derived from the analysis, comparison with theoretical references and interpretation revealed challenges and the need to strengthen and guide teaching practices based on portraits of practices that upheld the protagonist role of Down's children.
