Brasília's park school: exploring memories in search of history

Abstract

Published by UnB Press in 2023, the book Memories of the Brasília School-Park explores the memories and history of the educational project in Brazil's capital. The work focuses on the time period from 1960 to 1975, offering an in-depth look at the origins and functioning of this pioneering project. Author Ingrid Dittrich Wiggers takes the reader on a journey that examines not only the educational aspects of the school but also its cultural, social, and political relevance within the context of Brasília and Brazil. She uses an interdisciplinary approach, combining elements from the history of education, philosophy, and sociology to reconstruct the memories and meanings associated with the School-Park. The research is based on documents, photographs, testimonials from students and teachers, as well as scientific texts. The book is intended for both education researchers and those interested in the history and culture of Brasília.
