Abstract

The All Year-Round Anti-Racist Education Project came from a commitment made between the Education Regional Coordinator of Recanto das Emas, Mariana Ayres, and teachers that have attended the V Black Consciousness Seminar (2023), who requested that this Regional developed actions to meet the needs of those who were already working on ethnic-racial relations in education in their own schools. From  this active hearing, the project’s objectives are to map out anti-racist pedagogical practices that have been developed throughout the school year at all stages of education and share them with as many education professionals as possible, in order to inspire the start of new local projects. It also aims to offer training on basic concepts necessary to assist in developing lesson plans in accordance with Law No. 10.639/2003; to create a sharing group for events and training relevant to the Human Rights aiming at strengthening of these professionals; organize an Anti-Racist Education Forum for managers to raise awareness about adapting the needs for curriculum and behavioral adequacy related to the racial group that is the majority in our Administrative Region, along with facilitating the VI Black Consciousness Seminar over two days to receive more professionals from our schools and partner institutions. Finally, it plans to organize and publish a booklet containing the lesson plans mapped out and created by the teachers involved in the project in November. With potent training, empowered and confident teachers, students will have the opportunity to participate in a more welcoming environment, having their stories recognized and valued, allowing them to be more engaged in projects and, in a more challenging context, contribute to the reduction of school dropout rates.
