Abstract

The research education in Basic Education is a transformative education proposal that uses the artifices of science, above all, of research, for the appropriation and construction of new school knowledges, with a view to developing critical intellectuality and encouraging student proactivity in the face of a complex, diverse and unequal world. So, it involves several steps such as the advancement in the process of raising awareness of contemporary challenges, the acquisition of research skills that allow for more effective and purposeful action, the formation of humanist, scientific and democratic values ​​and the development of attitudes that are capable of having a positive impact the daily life of the school community and its local reality, substantiating a fair, inclusive, supportive and sustainable posture, fundamental for citizenship formation. Therefore, this work has as objective delimit the understanding of the concept of research education in Basic Education, highlighting its commitment to transforming Brazilian social reality. For that, we chose the concepts of knowledge, education, science, research and social project as fundamental for its formation and we identify necessary changes in the school geographic space and in the teaching-learning process so that research education happens. Thus, this movement to value Basic Education reinforces the need for adequate spaces and times for the development of better quality and complex education, in addition to good training and social recognition for teaching professionals, The purpose must be the formation of stimulated and motivated students, autonomous and authors.
