Abstract: The objective of this article is to identify research trends in school physical education and children, by mapping academic works defended in Postgraduate Programs in Physical Education (PPGEF) of public Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the Central-West Region of Brazil, between 2006 and 2021. The article is supported by a qualitative-quantitative approach, composing a systematic review of dissertations and theses. For this, an online search was carried out in the institutional repositories of the HEIs, for academic works that deal with school physical education and children. The master's and doctoral research defended in these PPGEF in the Region, over 16 years, total 355 works, of which 21 (5.9%) refer specifically to research on school physical education and children. Above all, greater evidence of the pedagogical and sociocultural subareas stands out, having been identified in 18 works, among selected theses and dissertations. Therefore, it is noted that academic productions on school physical education and children in the Central-West Region have been predominantly based on theoretical references from the Human and Social Sciences.
