The Human Sciences teaching book after BNCC: a look at Environmental Education in High School in the Federal District

Abstract

This paper is the product of a concern regarding the theme of environmental education. During a year of teacher practice following the implementation of changes in the organization of the equivalent of High School in Brazil, it was possible to observe some shortcomings in the approach to the theme presented in the didactic material designed to assist the instruction of Human Sciences in the classroom. Therefore, this paper aims to analyze the aforementioned material. The methodology adopted began with a bibliographic review of the theme and its legal frameworks, followed by a numerical survey of the collections of Human Sciences materials in all the Teaching Regions of the Federal District. In order to expand the scope of the results, we opted to focus the analysis on the collection that had been chosen by the largest number of School Units. Ensuing the identification of the most chosen collection, fourteen keywords were defined for examination, with a subsequent survey of the number of times each word could be found within the analyzed material. Finally, an investigation was carried out in order to identify the distribution of the theme within the entire collection, in an effort to point out whether the material provides teachers with the necessary support so that the issue – which was identified by the moving curriculum of the Federal Districts as a transversal theme – is sufficiently addressed in everyday school life.

El libro de enseñanza de Ciencias Humanas después de BNCC: una mirada a la Educación Ambiental en la Educación Media del Distrito Federal

Resumen

Este trabajo surge de la preocupación por el tema de la educación ambiental. En un año de implementación de cambios en la organización de la Enseñanza Media, se observó durante la práctica docente un vacío en el abordaje del tema por parte del material didáctico elaborado para auxiliar el trabajo de las Ciencias Humanas en clase. Por lo tanto, el objetivo es analizar este material. La metodología adoptada comenzó con una revisión bibliográfica del tema y marcos legales, seguida de una recopilación numérica de la elección de los acervos de Ciencias Humanas en todas las Regiones de Enseñanza del Distrito Federal, pues se decidió proceder con el análisis de la colección que había sido elegida por el mayor número de Unidades Escolares, con el fin de ampliar el alcance de los resultados. Una vez identificada la colección más elegida, se definieron catorce palabras clave para el análisis, con identificación de cuántas veces se puede encontrar cada palabra dentro de la colección analizada. Finalmente, el análisis se realizó con el fin de identificar la distribución del tema dentro de toda la colección, com el objetivo de identificar si el material ofrece a los docentes el apoyo necesario para que el tema - definido por el currículo en movimiento del Distrito Federal como un eje transversal - está suficientemente abordado en la vida escolar cotidiana.
