Innovative practices in the Secretary of State and Education of the Federal District

The main objective of this article is to revisit the concept of educational innovation over the lens of Zabalza (2014); Garcia (1980) and through three public actions that enabled pedagogical and social transformations in the Federal District. The first one is the creation of the Interschool Language Centers – CILs, a bottom-up action, proposed and vitalized by a teacher attentive to the demands of the school community, which makes this unit of the Federation a reference in foreign language teaching. – LE. The second is the opening of Park Schools - EPAR, an educational model conceived by Anísio Teixeira that proposed a differentiated, quality education involving all aspects of human development. The third is the institution of the Extended Journey in the Federal District as one of the integral means of valuing teachers. This practice differs from other capitals due to its organization format of the teacher's workload. This action benefits the pedagogical activity, substantially impacting the improvement of teaching working conditions and the quality of student learning. Throughout the article, we approach the history; advances, and setbacks; the conception of education; the elements that characterize educational innovation; and the potential of these public policies.
