This experience report is the result of the work of 5th grade elementary school teachers at Escola Classe 604 in Samambaia who, through the use of concrete materials, aimed to make the teaching of mathematics more enjoyable, playful and, consequently, better understood by the students. By using concrete materials, the students were able to experience and manipulate mathematical concepts, which facilitates their understanding and internalization. This approach favored active learning and made math classes more attractive, arousing students' interest in the subject. The use of concrete materials also provided a more collaborative learning environment, as students were able to discuss their findings and strategies with their classmates. This encouraged the exchange of ideas and teamwork, developing both social and mathematical skills.
