Abstract

This paper presents the creative process conducted at the Centro de Ensino Médio Elefante Branco (CEMEB) by students of the Cia de Teatro Elefante Branco. Looking at the Theater of the Oppressed, systematized by the Brazilian theatrologist Augusto Boal (1931-2009), as a powerful tool for humanizing and liberating education, the theater-forum performance Portraits of Daily Life could be concretized. Thus, several events, experienced during the staging of the scenes, whether artistic, political or socio-emotional, will be addressed here to illustrate the successful experience lived in a public school in the Federal District. From a Basic Theater Workshop, providing high school students with the opportunity to experience the languages of the Performing Arts, certain scene creation devices, such as dramatic games and free and guided improvisations, led the classes to this theatrical experience of which the aforementioned study was the subject.
