Physical Education in the early years of Elementary School through the eyes of children

Abstract

This article seeks to present a pedagogical proposal for Physical Education (PE) aimed at children in the Early Years of Elementary School and reflections based on their expressions. This is an excerpt from the research entitled “Physical Education in the Early Years, what do children have to say to us?”, linked to the Professional Master's Degree (PROEF/UnB). PROEF's premise is that research is linked to the development of a pedagogical proposal and an educational product. The participating children are from a public school in Samambaia (DF), they are in the 5th year of elementary school, and the class is made up of 18 students. The school has the "Education with Movement Program" (PECM) of the State Department of Education (SEEDF) which provides for the inclusion of PE teachers in Early Childhood Education and Early Years to develop interdisciplinary pedagogical work with teachers. to the. We base ourselves on the Sociology of Childhood and on the critical-overcoming pedagogical conception of Physical Education. Based on games and playful research instruments, we work with children on the following themes: “School and Public Education”; “The Education with Movement Program” and “Physical Education in the Early Years of Elementary School”. The following stand out in this process: the children's critical appropriation of the listed themes; the importance of their analyzes for the qualification of Physical Education and the school; the professional master's degree and its significance in the continuing education of teachers; and, finally, the relevance of the Education with Movement Program to guarantee the rights of children and the emergence of its consolidation as an educational policy in the DF.
