This study aimed to comparatively analyze the perspectives of children regarding children's play culture in two public schools in the Federal District, one rural and one urban, focusing on research with emphasis on childhood. Considering the drawings produced by children based on the theme of their favorite play, as well as observations taken from the analysis of two master's dissertations produced in the Physical Education Graduate Program at the University of Brasília, between 2013 and 2015, it was understood that there was no deep distance between the two contexts analyzed. Furthermore, a continuous state of conflict between school culture and children's culture was concluded. Regarding the drawings and their favorite play, it was also evidenced that the school has become the main place where children gather, creating a relationship of interaction and culture between peers. Moreover, it was found that when playing, the child experiences their relationship with others and the world, learning to relate. Therefore, playing is not a simple mechanical gesture, but a movement endowed with intentionality, meaning, emotion, expression, and culturally contextualized.Downloads
