Zines highlight the relevance of images produced by youths and were present in punk circles and student movements in Brazil, opposed to the dictatorship that existed in the 1970s and 1980s. When adapted for classrooms as a pedagogical workshop, these zines helped build an aesthetic experience through the collective production of Brazilian and German high school students and their perspectives on the pandemic and the armed conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza. This article investigates the visual data these young people produced and how they view their productions as a space of rights, of life, and of experiences through the iconicity used in their graphic productions. The theories of John Dewey (1979; 2012) and Richard Shusterman (2013; 2018; 1982) are used to discuss the aesthetic presentation of these zines, the drawings and words used in their chaotic layouts. These layouts represent aspects of the daily lives of young people, who use images as a means of communication among their peers. They are a kind of visual presentation of collectivity and experiences, which needs to be studied in depth.
